BRIAN H. LEVENTHAL

I am a skilled business attorney with over 25 years of experience guiding businesses through organic and external growth by providing business-minded legal advice that strikes the optimal balance between limiting risk and facilitating progress.
 
I started my solo practice in 2004 after helping to sell Teligent, Inc., a public telecommunications company where I served as Senior Counsel for over six years. In 2007, I dedicated my practice to a single client and became General Counsel of WashingtonVC, LLC, a private equity firm that incubated early stage technology companies. As General Counsel, I was responsible for managing the company's legal affairs, including negotiating and structuring investments. I also played a key role in business development and operational management for both WashingtonVC and its portfolio companies. I resumed working with additional clients in 2009.

Over the past 25 years I have represented individuals, investors, technology and Internet startups, and mature operating businesses in a variety of legal and business matters, including complex business contracts, international joint ventures, capital raising, angel investing, acquisitions and strategic transactions, employment agreements, and corporate structure and governance.  My clients are located throughout the United States and are involved in a wide range of industries, including Internet infrastructure, domain names, IT services and equipment, telemedicine, food service, software and mobile applications, marketing and public relations, health and wellness, and consulting.
 
I received my J.D. with honors from Washington College of Law at The American University and my B.A. from University of Pennsylvania. I am a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia Bars.
